A new journal. Why ?
The editorial staff of The Journal of Medicine and the Person
None of us feels the need of more information, in such a saturated field as the medical literature. All of us, on the other hand, living the daily professional task of accompanying men and women through the experience of sickness and limit, deeply feel the need of a tool of communication and judgement of his/her own full human and professional experience. The "Journal of Medicine and the Person" aims exactly at being such a tool. It aims at becoming a scientific journal that contributes on the one hand to increase knowledge among professionals and on the other to stimulate a critical debate about the nature and the purpose of the health professions. This can be achieved through original articles and reviews concerning relevant topics in any health related fields, or through the communication of didactic clinical cases and innovative managerial experiences, or through the indication of events, books and medical meetings. The challenge consists in recognising the Person (the patient, the operator) as the only true resource of the health system. Aware of the novelty brought about by such an approach and of the ambition of our targets, we propose to everybody attention "The Journal of Medicine and the Person", ready to accept any contributions from those who, driven by the passion for their work, will respond to our editorial provocation

La Redazione del Journal of Medicine and the Person
Nessuno di noi sente la necessità di una nuova rivista, di altra carta stampata, divulgativa o di informazione, in un campo già saturo come quello della pubblicistica medica. Ognuno di noi, per contro, dovendo accompagnare quotidianamente "per professione", uomini attraverso l'esperienza della malattia e quindi del proprio limite, sente profondamente l'urgenza, da uomo, di uno strumento non solo di "informazione" ma anche e soprattutto di comunicazione e confronto, della propria "integrale" esperienza umana e professionale. Il "Journal of Medicine and the Person" vuole essere esattamente questo strumento. Una rivista scientifica che attraverso articoli originali e/o reviews su argomenti di obiettiva rilevanza in campo sanitario, attraverso la comunicazione di casi clinici "didattici" e/o esperienze gestionali innovative o segnalazione di avvenimenti, libri e/o Convegni, contribuisca da un lato ad arricchire le conoscenze tra i professionisti, dall'altro a stimolare un dibattito "critico" circa la natura e lo scopo delle "professioni sanitarie", accettando la sfida di riconoscere la Persona (del malato e dell'operatore) come unica vera risorsa del Sistema. Con queste premesse, consci della novità di questa impostazione e della difficoltà degli obiettivi proposti, offriamo all'attenzione di tutti il "Journal of Medicine and the Person" pronti ad accogliere i contributi di coloro che, appassionati alla propria professione, vorranno rispondere alla nostra "provocazione editoriale".
